Snails are generally seen as rather lowly creatures but they are all individuals and have great charm as this group, painted from some that inhabit my garden, will attest. Most of the snails which we see in our Australian suburban gardens are species which have been accidentally introduced from overseas. Their shells show remarkable diversity in the patterns and shades of cream through to deepest brown.
