Japonica: watercolour painting by Kay Craig, 1999 [8 of 17]

Japonica - Chaenomeles speciosa
This is the ornamental quince from China. I have several large specimens in my garden. Once established, this plant tends to spread and can be very difficult to remove, but its late winter flowering is a lovely reminder that spring is almost here. I very rarely see any fruit on the branches as the ever- present possums love to eat them.
